The Williams Firm Team
Corkney Peters is a highly experienced Civil Litigation Paralegal at The Williams Firm, where she brings more than 14 years of hands-on expertise in supporting attorneys on both the plaintiff and defense sides of the courtroom. Known for her calm presence, sharp organizational skills, and genuine compassion, Corkney plays a pivotal role in the successful resolution of personal injury matters. Her work spans a variety of cases, including automobile and trucking accidents, slip and falls, work-related injuries, and other significant personal injury claims.
Corkney manages every aspect of the civil litigation process – from client intake to final settlement or trial – ensuring that no detail is overlooked. Her day-to-day duties include setting up claims with insurance adjusters, drafting critical documents such as correspondence, demands, and discovery, and collecting supporting evidence, including medical records, accident scene information, photos, videos, and official reports. She also coordinates discovery, schedules depositions and mediations, confirms and finalizes liens, files court documents electronically, and maintains regular communication with clients to provide updates and reassurance throughout what is often a stressful legal journey.
Her steady professionalism and reliability make her a tremendous asset to The Williams Firm’s litigation team. Corkney’s ability to manage complex case files while maintaining personal connections with clients and court staff reflects her deep commitment to excellence and service.
Corkney’s commitment to the legal profession began in her hometown of Dorchester, South Carolina, where she graduated from Woodland High School. Inspired by a desire to help others and drawn to the challenge of legal work, she went on to earn her Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Her education provided a strong foundation in legal research, civil procedure, and ethics, equipping her with the tools to thrive in the fast-paced world of litigation.
Since entering the field, Corkney has continued to grow her skill set and legal acumen through daily practice and continuous learning. Her years of experience have made her adept at navigating the nuanced demands of civil litigation and handling the often complex web of communication between clients, medical providers, insurance adjusters, and attorneys.
Corkney’s dedication extends well beyond the office walls. Deeply rooted in her faith and the values of integrity and service, she is an active member of Zion United Methodist Church. She participates in church activities and finds fulfillment in being part of a close-knit spiritual community that supports others through compassion and prayer.
Now a proud resident of St. George, South Carolina – known affectionately as “the town of friendly people” – Corkney continues to embody the spirit of neighborliness and care in all that she does. Whether assisting someone in legal distress or showing up for her community, Corkney believes in making a difference, one person at a time.
Family is central to her life, and she devotes much of her personal time to her loved ones. She cherishes moments spent with her husband, Caleb, and their two dogs, as well as with her four nieces, four nephews, and one great-niece. Her home is often filled with laughter, love, and the joy of family gatherings.
When she isn’t immersed in legal files or supporting clients, Corkney loves to embrace life to the fullest. She enjoys traveling and finds joy in exploring new places and meeting new people. These adventures help her stay energized and open to new perspectives, both personally and professionally.
A true lover of the outdoors, Corkney feels most at peace when she’s near the water – whether it’s relaxing by a lake, enjoying a beach day, or taking in the beauty of nature. This connection to the natural world helps her recharge and maintain balance in her busy life.
Corkney also has a deep appreciation for positivity and personal growth. She brings that mindset into her work, her faith, and her interactions with others, making her not only a highly capable paralegal, but also a kind and uplifting presence in any setting.
With her strong work ethic, deep-rooted values, and unwavering dedication to both her clients and her community, Corkney Peters is an integral part of The Williams Firm, and someone clients and colleagues alike are proud to have on their side.
