Home Chatting with Charlie Charlie Williams Marks 13 Years of Service with the Alzheimer’s Association
May 29th marked the final board meeting for our founder and attorney, Charlie Williams, as he concluded an extraordinary 13-year journey of service with the Alzheimer’s Association. From 2012 to 2025, Charlie served as a dedicated board member, including as Chairman from 2015 to 2017—roles that were deeply personal and profoundly meaningful.
Charlie’s commitment to the fight against Alzheimer’s began not from professional ambition, but from a place of heartbreak. At the height of her judicial career, Charlie’s beloved mother, Karen Williams, was unexpectedly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. The diagnosis left the family stunned and unsure where to turn. It was the Alzheimer’s Association that reached out, offering guidance, compassion, and a lifeline during one of the most difficult chapters in their lives.
In honor of his mother and to ensure other families would not face this journey alone, Charlie began volunteering, participating in awareness events, and advocating for the cause. His passion, empathy, and leadership quickly led to his appointment to the Board in 2012. As Chairman from 2015 to 2017, Charlie helped shepherd the Association’s state chapter through the historic national merger—streamlining and strengthening its ability to deliver critical research, advocacy, and support to millions of families.
Throughout his service, Charlie was honored to work alongside some of the most brilliant medical minds in research and patient care, as well as leaders in inpatient, assisted living, and memory care services. He also took his advocacy to the halls of government—fighting for legislative support at both the state and national levels.
Charlie’s final board meeting was an emotional one, filled with reflection on the progress made, the relationships formed, and most of all, the legacy of his mother, whose memory continues to inspire his every effort. Though his time on the Board has come to a close, Charlie’s mission is far from over—he remains steadfast in doing all he can to raise awareness and help find the first survivor of this devastating disease.
